teaching philosophy
The visual arts are a form of communication that allows a student to express her/himself in an authentic and uninhibited manner. It is my job as an art instructor to give students the tools, vocabulary and skills necessary to communicate. In developing these skills students are taught vital critical thinking, problem solving, as well as developing interests for life-long learning, creativity and imagination. Everyone learns in a slightly different manner, and as I get to know a student, I form a curriculum built on her/his strengths and interests, while gradually branching out to new challenges. In this way each student not only succeeds, but thrives.
