teaching philosophy

“Hard work and a positive attitude both play large roles in helping the voice develop. Each person’s voice is different, and we experiment with different ways of thinking about and approaching singing to get where you want to be – when your voice is ready for that. I teach from a classical background, and a rather technical standpoint, but am relaxed and have fun exploring different sounds that we can all make (and learn to make!).”

“Learning to sing well takes practice, hard work, and concentration, and I expect my students to practice at home and to focus during lessons. I am happy to try songs that are new to me. I am also happy to work with singers to learn sight-singing and basic music theory to assist in reading music. I am eager to share my love of music and singing with my students, and promise to work hard to bring out your most natural and beautiful voice. ”
