After School Art

After School Art on Wednesdays with Beth Jesion

Beth Jesion holds a BS in Art and Art Therapy from Edgewood College.  She is also a certified art teacher in Wisconsin.  She enjoys working with students of all ages, with many different types of media.  Beth has been with MSFAC since 2009.

A variety of 1 ½ hour classes to choose from.  Sign up for a monthly class, each month has a different theme (you can join the class in progress).

*Classes for 6-8 year olds run on Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30 PM, from Sept. 1- Dec. 8 ($15 per class).

#500 September-Sculpture and Mixed Media (5 Wednesdays, $75) Beginning with a well-planned 2-D design, media planning and construction of a solid understructure, students will build sculptures.   Elements of 2-D and 3-D can next be combined for a final mixed media piece.

#502 October-Printmaking (4 Wednesdays, $60) Printing techniques will be introduced.  Beginning prints will focus on contour lines and be in black and white, color and form will be introduced as well as more complex printmaking techniques.

#504 November-Painting (3 Wednesdays, $45) Beginning paintings will focus on form, then move on to color exploration.  Paintings will begin in monochrome with tints and shades as students learn how to mix paints.

#506 December-Textiles(2 Wednesdays, $30) Brainstorming on how one might achieve a particular feel in a textile will be followed with further experimentation with different materials.  Next, students will design and create personal pieces with final works including nature or urban pieces.

#501 September-Sculpture and Mixed Media (5 Wednesdays, $75) Using a series of handbuilding techniques a variety of clay projects will be created.  Students will create 2-D and 3-D mixed media pieces.

#503 October-Printmaking (4 Wednesdays, $60) Students will create images with prints.  Printmaking may include monotypes, tagboard collagraphs, subtractive monoprints, silk screens, and relief printmaking.

#505 November-Painting (3 Wednesdays, $45) Basics of color and color mixing will be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced including hue, tint, shade, monochromatic, complementary, and analogous.
